One Earth. One Chance. Let’s Protect It

In celebration of Earth Day 2025 and as part of our commitment to environmental conservation, Sarvodaya Samadhikar Foundation of Siliguri organized a tree plantation drive on 22nd April 2025 at BhimramJote south Rathkhola, Naxalbari dist. Darjeeling – WB. On this auspicious day Team members of SarvodayaSamadhikar Foundation planted the saplings of Champ, Katahal&Hamari.
The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of trees in combating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring a healthier planet for future generations.
While interacting with the Local community Mr. Deependra Rai – Managing Director of SSF, Siligurimotivated the villagers to plant trees and celebrate each day as Earth Day.
He also emphasized the benefits of trees to our everyday lives. Other than providing food, they filter clean air, provide fresh drinking water, help curb climate change, and create homes for thousands of species of plants and animals and help save the Earth from climate change and biodiversity loss.

Objectives:

  • To promote environmental awareness among participants.
  • To contribute to local reforestation efforts.
  • To inspire long-term ecological responsibility in the community

Challenges & Solutions:

  • Challenge: Dry soil made digging difficult.
  • Solution: Volunteers pre-watered the area a day before the event.
  • Challenge: Limited saplings.
  • Solution: Collaborated with a local nursery for additional donations.

Conclusion:

The tree plantation drive was a resounding success, fostering teamwork and environmental stewardship. As the saplings grow, they will symbolize our dedication to a greener Earth. We encourage everycitizen to nurture the planted saplings, adopt eco-friendly habits, and continue advocating for a “sustainable future”. Together, we can turn small actions into a global movement for a thriving planet.
